Sisters and Brothers of the Motor Vehicle Service Division, I am requesting your support and Vote in re-electing me as Assistant Director. My past experience as Assistant Director and MVS Director of 13 years for the Detroit District Area Local demonstrates my ability and qualifications for the job.
My decision to continue as Assistant Director is based solely on my passion, dedication and knowledge of and for the job. My past experiences include my postal career as Tractor-Trailer Operator, AD HOC DIE, and Arbitration Advocate, in which I fought progressively to protect the interest and benefits for the Motor Vehicle Craft throughout the Central Region. As Local and National Officer I served the MVS Craft continuously since 1988. My experience also includes participating in every National Contract Negotiations since 2000. I have 90% plus success rate in MVS arbitrated cases. I am proud of my success in winning the largest payout of HCR Violations in MVS history (Phoenix, AZ., over $2,000,000.00). I was actively involved in the development of MVS Questions and Answers in the JCIM. I negotiated the last chance agreement for DOT violations and negotiated No Automatic Suspension or Revocation for “At Fault Accidents”. I participated in return of PVS Service in Tacoma, WA, after it was improperly contracted out. I have also worked side by side with Bob Pritchard, National MVS Director, in fighting to protect the MVS Craft. I have established a great work relationship with our National Officers, and have been able to positively address issues that may impact the other crafts in the performance of my assigned Articles.
Although these are trying times for the country and postal service, as a whole, Bob and I have been able to minimize the impact on the Craft, and enabled the MVS Craft Members to continue to perform the main duties (Driving and Repairing Motor Vehicles) they were hired to do from the outset of their postal employment. During the last nine (9) years the MVS Craft has been successful in obtaining more upgrades than any other Craft in the Postal Service. We are preparing for Contract Negotiations. Bob and I have firsthand knowledge of issues to be addressed at the tables; we have past experience of negotiations and are committed to do what is right for members of the Motor Vehicle Craft. Protect your job and future, vote the right way. Vote for Michael Foster, Assistant Director Motor Vehicle Service Division.
I am a proud member of The Leadership 2010 Team. Cliff Guffey and Greg Bell are qualified to lead this great Union into the future. Rob Strunk will be a true asset as Clerk Craft Director. Martha Shunn King has the vision to organize for our future and recruit the long time nonmembers. Princella Vogel has led one of the finest Locals in the APWU and is prepared to meet the challenges facing the Southern Region as Coordinator. As a proud member of our APWU Health Plan, I am convinced with Bill Kaczor’s leadership, APWU Health Plan stands shoulder to shoulder with any Federal Employee Health Plan.
