I am unopposed in this election and would like to take this opportunity to thank each APWU member for your continued support, and for the confidence that you have placed in me, as the Director of APWU’s Research & Education Department.
I have inspired to make the Department a viable force within APWU by developing quality educational programs, training thousands of officers, shop stewards and members nationwide in the areas of: arbitration, shop steward training, local negotiations, effective leadership skills, parliamentary procedure, sexual harassment, representation during interrogation by the OIG/Postal Inspection Service, and in developing effective communication skills.
I could not have provided these programs without assistance from the best union officers in the country, your current officers on the Leadership Team 2010. It has been my privilege to work with each member of the team for many years and I extend my congratulations to those who were unopposed in this election.
The Leadership Team 2010 is composed of a diverse team of candidates, who are knowledgeable, experienced, dedicated, and committed to improving working conditions, providing a safer and healthier working environment, and securing a better standard of living for APWU members and their families.
Cliff “C.J.,” Guffey, heads the Leadership Team 2010 as the candidate for President. I have worked with Cliff for over twenty years and have had the opportunity to witness his leadership qualities first hand. Over the past 20 years, along with the other Leadership Team 2010 candidates, he has delivered a solid record of accomplishments and success. Cliff brings a fresh new approach to the position. He is an experienced contract negotiator and is committed to moving the union in a new direction. Cliff is the candidate with the knowledge, experience, and commitment to lead this great union. Vote for tried and proven leadership. Vote Cliff “C.J.” Guffey, President.
Greg Bell, seeking the position of Executive Vice President, is a man with vision, tenacity, and integrity. He has a long and proven track record of dedication, strong work ethic, and the knowledge and experience needed to accomplish the difficult tasks that confront this union. Greg is committed to infusing a renewed sense of purpose and unity throughout APWU and will use every opportunity to engage rank and file members in the struggle to cultivate a sense of responsibility for APWU’s fate. Vote Greg Bell, Executive Vice President.
William “Bill” Kaczor, Director of the Health Plan, has instituted positive changes at APWU’s Health Plan, soliciting agreements with thousands of Preferred Providers nationwide and implementing new technological changes. Under Kaczor’s leadership, the plan is solvent, claims are processed in a timely manner, and the health plan is now a major score of revenue for APWU. Re-elect William “Bill” Kaczor, Director of the Health Plan.
Martha Shunn-King joins the team as the candidate for Director of Organization. She brings many years of practical experience to the position. Serving as both a local and state president, Martha believes that the future of APWU is at stake and fully understands the importance of organizing the unorganized workers, who reap the benefits but never pay union dues. She has a bold, unique strategic vision for reinvigorating APWU’s Organization Department and plans to involve local and state unions in her effort to implement aggressive organizing campaigns. Vote Martha Shunn-King, Director of Organization.
Princella Vogel, a refreshing addition to the team, is a candidate for Southern Regional Coordinator. Serving as president of Houston, Texas, APWU’s sixth largest local, has prepared Princella for the challenges of the Coordinator’s job. She brings years of experienced leadership, a wealth of knowledge, and positive achievements to the position. Princella is a fearless leader, who firmly believes that every member deserves to be treated fairly, and with dignity and respect. She will not hesitate to confront regional postal management, to protect the rights of the membership in the Southern Region. Princella will make an outstanding Coordinator! Vote Princella Vogel, Southern Regional Coordinator.
Rob Strunk, seeking the position of Director Clerk Division, always puts the interest of the membership first. As the current Assistant Clerk Craft Director, he works endless hours to ensure that the craft employees’ rights are protected. He is an experienced contract negotiator. As Clerk Craft Director, he will provide assistance to the local and state unions in their efforts to hold postal management accountable for contract violations. Vote Rob Strunk, Director Clerk Division.
Robert “Bob” Pritchard, Director Motor Vehicle Service Division, has worked diligently to ensure that the concerns and problems of his craft are given top priority, has fought to secure upgrades in the craft, reduced the grievance backlog, and scheduled important national level arbitrations. He has the expertise to meet the challenges facing the MVS Craft. Re-elect Robert “Bob” Pritchard, Director Motor Vehicle Service Division.
Mike Foster, Assistant Director Motor Vehicle Service Division, is dedicated, conscientious, and assertive. He fully understands the problems faced by his craft and has a no nonsense approach when talking to postal management concerning MVS policies. Mike stands firm in his convictions and is a forceful voice for all MVS employees. Re-elect Mike Foster, Assistant Director Motor Vehicle Service Division.
I firmly believe that each candidate on the Leadership Team 2010 is the best candidate for the position he or she seeks. I urge you to support Cliff “C.J.” Guffey, Greg Bell , William “Bill” Kaczor, Martha Shunn-King, Princella Vogel, Rob Strunk, Robert “Bob” Pritchard, and Mike Foster.
Don’t be swayed by candidates making empty promises. Vote for the candidates of the Leadership Team 2010. They are committed to “Protecting Your Future!”
Thanking you in advance for your support of the Leadership Team 2010.
