I am a candidate for Southern Region Coordinator. I currently serve as the President of the Houston Area Local, representing 2 plants, one annex, and 36 Associate Offices. Having served as Local President for a total of twelve years, I have negotiated LMOU’s for all size offices, addressed excessing, and all aspects of the grievance procedure. The Houston Area Local experienced massive excessing proposals as many other Locals did throughout the country. With the help of our current Coordinator, the excessing was drastically reduced.
Being a Union Leader also involves being actively involved in politics and working with your Local and State AFL-CIO. I am a delegate to my Central Labor Council and have participated in party politics at Local, State, and National Level. I have served as Delegate to State Democratic Conventions, and Delegate to two National Democratic Conventions. I have also served on national committees, labor management, automation, and served as Chair of the Rank and File Committee.
I have received numerous awards for my work in the Labor movement for legislative activity, organization, and representation, including the Executive Award in 2009 presented by President Burrus.
Successfully representing the membership requires collaboration and cooperation. As Coordinator, I will vigorously support the Business Agents, address contractual issues, set up a program to collectively address legislative issues, and insist on management compliance with the contract at every level. I am known as a successful contract enforcer, am politically savvy, and fiscally responsible. I would be honored to serve you, the members. I ASK FOR YOUR VOTE!
